I've done a version of that and of breaking them into groups to each analyze part of the reading, and I've done my usual lecture-with-question-and-answer thing, and now I want more new activities to switch things up this session.Sisyphushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09880634753539329199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366909960546184927.post-70245437210857270032007-08-08T09:24:00.000-07:002007-08-08T09:24:00.000-07:00I'm totally going to steal this. (I hate the word activity -- it makes it sound as if we're just trying to keep them busy for a couple hours -- which in some cases we are, but still!) Totally.going.to.steal.this. Even without the game part, putting questions into a hat is, I think, a great way of helping students who feel too shy to speak to get their questions out and see that they are valuable. Why didn't I think of this? Maybe I'm just a stupid teacher. Do you want to go to Adventure U for me?Earnest Englishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01947000435270263070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366909960546184927.post-90928178540269723582007-08-08T09:15:00.000-07:002007-08-08T09:15:00.000-07:00Awesome. This gives me incentive to try!Hilairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09033740943173352249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7366909960546184927.post-74362755148473252462007-08-08T06:40:00.000-07:002007-08-08T06:40:00.000-07:00Oh, gosh, that sounds like a fabulous activity!
