Yeah, I know I promised I wasn't going to read all the articles about the myriad ways our jobs in teaching are fucked. I lied. Argh.

People are fucking stupid. So yes, if you look at people as widgets that need to be processes, this formula works. But this is exactly what is wrong with ethics today: people think it makes sense to reduce people down to formulas and tests, rather than trying to promote creativity and human values.

Wow. I mean, wow. I'm familiar with these sorts of formulas, but they were never designed to be applied to individual teachers! Nobody's model is that good!

I'm ok with assessing teachers' performance, but damn! If I have a union, what I want it to do is protect me from this shit, and help me fight for a tenure process that can actually be explained to me clearly along with where I stand in it.
