Sheesh! What am I getting myself into?

Oy. And it looks like the whole entire country is having sweaty crappy hot weather, just in time for me to drive across it. Hoo boy.

Will post real info soon, but I am in the middle of packing everything and then cleaning and loading and running amuck.

Make sure that your car's A/C works! Just before I moved to RNC, driving cross-country, I discovered that my A/C had burned out. While a PITA, it was good that I found it out before I left Grad City rather than on the road to RNC.

And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

It's interesting, but you learn to live with it. FWIW, I find a humid 90 in London to be hotter than 100 in CA...

Drink hot tea. That's what I did in Egypt, which was very, very hot, but also very, very dry (a relief, since I generally don't like hot weather, but am more familiar with the hot-and-muggy kind). Actually, in the U.S., where you don't have to worry about whether the water has been thoroughly boiled, you could drink iced tea.

Second checking out the a/c in the car before leaving, but also be prepared in case it stops working on the way (in other words, carry at least plenty of water).
